Hi! My name is Katrina but you can call me Kat. Let me tell you a little about myself. I have always loved photography and have used it as a tool to help me remember the moments and people of my past. I moved around a lot as a youth and photography helps me reminisce, which is what I want to help everyone do!
I mostly grew up in the Okanagan, with some stints on the west coast, but Vernon is where the majority of my memories are. When I moved back to the Okanagan in 2013, I ended up in Kelowna and have loved it. From the moment my mom first let me use our family camera, I was hooked! Back then, it was a film-based world and I can remember babysitting at every opportunity so I could save money to buy new film and develop the full ones!
As a mom (of both non-furry and furry children), an artist, and (now) businesswoman, I wear many hats. That being said, family is super important to me and I don't want to forget a moment of it. I'm pretty sure everyone I know has been blinded by the flash of my camera more than once.
My passion for photography has even extended to my children. My youngest craves it! He will randomly bring up that we haven't done a shoot recently. It's so cute when he sometimes assists me on shoots and sees the models/clients I work with posing and wants to try them in our own sessions. My joy has helped him develop his own passion for photography.
One of the reasons I really got into photography is because of my eldest son, and his interest in entomology, he kept asking me to photograph and look up any insects or insectoid-like critters he could find. I found through these experience that you need really great photos to identify these creepy but fascinating critters.
I really love capturing nature and wildlife, but portraiture is my bread and butter.
